Chapter 9 - The Eternal Kingdom

Four years later.

The morning sun rose over the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy, casting a warm, golden glow across our private family vineyard.

The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming jasmine, ripe grapes, and the gentle breeze sweeping off the Mediterranean Sea.

It was my wedding day.

Inside the grand dressing suite of our historic villa, I stood in front of a full-length gilded mirror, finishing the final adjustments on my ivory silk wedding dress. My dark hair fell in soft, voluminous curls down my back, framed by a delicate diamond tiara—a gift from my father.

There was a gentle knock on the door, and seven-year-old Clara burst into the room, wearing a little white flower-girl dress and a wreath of pink roses in her hair.

"Mommy! Look! Grandfather caught a butterfly!" Clara giggled, holding my hand and pulling me toward the balcony.

I walked out onto the wide marble terrace overlooking the vineyard.

Down in the garden below, Julian was chatting warmly with our wedding guests, looking dashing in his black tuxedo. Near the fountain, my father stood in a tailored charcoal suit, holding a silver watering can, teaching two young local children how to tend to the rose bushes.

The terrifying underworld boss, El Mudo, had retired completely. He had handed his global network over to Viktor and spent his days tending to his Italian vineyard, playing chess, and spoiling his granddaughter rotten.

My father looked up, his sharp eyes meeting mine, a look of profound, eternal peace washing over his face.

He walked up the winding stone staircase, joining me on the balcony.

"You look breathtaking, Elena," my father said softly, his voice thick with emotion as he offered me his arm. "Your mother is looking down from heaven today, smiling."

"I wouldn't be standing here without you, Dad," I replied, wrapping my arm firmly around his.

"You built this life yourself, my sweet girl," Marcus smiled, kissing my cheek. "I just provided the foundation. You are the queen of this family."

The gentle strains of a harp began to play from the garden courtyard below.

Clara took her basket of rose petals, skipping happily down the aisle ahead of us, tossing pink petals onto the sunlit stone path.

I tightened my hold on my father’s arm, stepped out into the warm Italian sunlight, and walked toward the man who loved me, surrounded by the family that had protected me, leaving every ghost of my past behind forever.

The storm was over. The light had won. And our kingdom was eternal.
