Chapter 4 - The Corporate Slaughter

While I was being airlifted to my father’s secure private medical estate in northern Illinois, Silas Vance was panicking inside the executive suite of Vance Dynamics.
He had spent the last two hours frantically calling his bankers, his lawyers, and his board members.
None of them answered.
Every time he dialed a number, a automated voice responded: “THIS LINE HAS BEEN RESTRICTED BY ORDER OF THE UNITED STATES TREASURY DEPARTMENT.”
"Dammit! Dammit!" Silas roared, slamming his fists onto his glass conference table.
He grabbed a bottle of scotch and gulped it straight from the glass, his hands trembling violently. He was ruined. The offshore accounts containing his stolen millions had been completely wiped clean. The shell company he used to hide his embezzled funds—Kade Capital—no longer existed on any legal registry.
Suddenly, the heavy oak doors of his executive office were pushed open.
Silas spun around, ready to scream at security, but his voice died in his throat.
An army of men in dark, tailored suits flooded into his office. Behind them stepped Marcus Sterling—the state's most feared corporate liquidation attorney—and my father, Marcus Osei.
Silas blinked in utter disbelief. "Marcus...? What the hell are you doing here?! How did an old mechanic get past my lobby security?!"
My father walked slowly across the plush carpet, resting his hands inside his coat pockets. He looked around the sleek, million-dollar office, taking in the crystal chandeliers, the panoramic views of the Chicago skyline, and the expensive art on the walls.
"My daughter designed the algorithm that powers your company's primary defense software, Silas," my father said quietly, stopping across from the desk. "She built this empire while you were spending her money on cheap suits and mistresses."
Silas let out a nervous, mocking laugh, trying to mask the sheer terror clawing at his throat. "Oh, I get it! You came here to defend your pathetic daughter! Listen to me, old man: Elena signed over her intellectual property rights when we got married! Vance Dynamics is MINE! You can't touch me!"
Marcus Sterling, the high-powered attorney, stepped forward, opening a leather binder.
"Actually, Mr. Vance," Sterling smiled smoothly, "we have just executed an emergency board takeover. Your wife, Elena Osei, holds a 51% super-majority share through her late mother's trust—a trust managed anonymously by her father, Mr. Marcus Osei."
Silas’s jaw dropped. "What... what did you say?!"
"You were never the owner, Silas," my father said, taking a step closer to the desk, his eyes hardening like steel. "You were just an employee. An employee who stole $45 million from company accounts, committed corporate fraud, and hired a woman to assault my pregnant daughter in a hospital bed."
"No... no, that's impossible!" Silas stammered, backing away until his spine hit the glass window. "Elena didn't have a trust! She grew up in a run-down house in south Chicago!"
"I gave her a modest upbringing so she would grow up with humility, grace, and real values," my father replied coldly. "Things you will never understand."
My father tapped his watch.
Four uniformed Federal Marshals and two FBI agents walked into the office, holding an arrest warrant.
"Silas Vance," the lead agent announced, snapping a pair of heavy steel handcuffs onto Silas’s wrists. "You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, corporate embezzlement, tax evasion, and conspiracy to commit murder."

As the agents dragged Silas away, he looked back at my father, screaming like a desperate animal. "Marcus! Please! Talk to Elena! Tell her I love her! I was confused! We can fix this!"
My father didn't even look at him as he was hauled out into the hallway, where his former employees stood watching in utter shock as their arrogant CEO was led away in chains.
