With federal agents arresting Dominic outside the corporate headquarters for fraud and evidence tampering, I returned to the estate with Elena.
However, the darkness surrounding my family ran deeper than financial corruption.
That evening, while going through the private safe in my late wife Elizabeth’s room—searching for her original estate papers—I found an encrypted digital audio drive hidden behind her portrait.
I plugged it into my laptop. Elizabeth’s voice came through the speakers, shaky and filled with fear, recorded just weeks before she passed away.
"If anyone is listening to this... Adrian, my love, I'm so sorry. The complication during Sofia’s birth wasn't a medical accident. Victoria and Dominic bribed the attending physician to induce early labor while you were stuck overseas. They wanted to ensure the heir to the estate was compromised so they could control the family trust..."
My heart plummeted into a dark abyss.
My mother and brother hadn't just tried to frame Elena. They were responsible for the birth complications that had paralyzed my daughter in the first place.
I slammed the laptop shut, rage burning in my veins like molten lead.
"Marco!" I barked into my comms. "Where is my mother being kept?"
