Chapter 10 - A New Dawn for the Thornes

Spring gave way to early summer across the northern shores of Illinois, bringing with it a lush, vibrant green that seemed to wash away the memory of the winter storm.
Inside the private delivery suite of St. Jude Memorial Hospital, the air was filled with a different kind of energy altogether.
There were no flashing cameras here. No corporate lawyers, no security guards, no socialites playing games.
Just soft lighting, quiet whispers, and the steady, miraculous sound of a newborn baby’s first cry.
Dr. Elaine Parker—not the event coordinator, but the brilliant chief of neonatology who had overseen Khloe’s care throughout the ordeal—smiled warmly as she wrapped the tiny, wriggling infant in a soft white blanket and handed him directly to his mother.
“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Thorne,” Dr. Parker said softly. “A healthy, perfect baby boy. Eight pounds, four ounces.”
Khloe tears spilled over her cheeks, but this time, they were tears of pure, unadulterated joy. She cradled the tiny infant against her chest, marveling at his ten tiny fingers, his tuft of dark hair, and the way his little fists curled instinctively against the air.
Marcus stood beside her, his breath catching in his throat. The billionaire businessman, who had faced down corporate raiders, federal investigators, and violent enemies without flinching, looked down at his son and felt his knees go weak.
He leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to Khloe’s forehead, then gently brushing his finger against the baby’s soft cheek.
“Welcome to the world, little man,” Marcus whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I’ve got you. Nobody will ever hurt you.”
Khloe looked up at her husband, her eyes shining with absolute love and unshakeable peace.
“We made it, Marcus,” she whispered.

“We did,” Marcus replied, wrapping his arms around both of them, holding his entire world close against his chest.
Outside the hospital window, the Chicago skyline stretched out toward the horizon, bright and limitless under a clear blue sky. The shadows of the past had been thoroughly erased, leaving behind a foundation built not on fragile social standing or deceptive appearances, but on loyalty, truth, and an unbreakable family bond that nothing could ever destroy.
