Chapter 7 - The Reckoning

Federal agents entered the lobby of the Vance building less than twenty minutes later.
As news crews gathered outside the skyscraper, Richard Sterling and Evelyn Vance were escorted out of the building in handcuffs, charged with grand corporate fraud, wire fraud, and illegal conspiracy. Victoria Sterling fled through the service exit, her family's reputation ruined beyond repair.
The board of directors voted unanimously to strip Evelyn of all corporate standing and appoint Marcus as the temporary Chief Financial Officer to oversee the restitution process.
Under Caleb’s direct command, the Vance Group immediately transferred forty percent of the disputed patent royalties back to Arthur Lin, restoring his family's wealth and securing a multi-million-dollar trust fund for Sadie.
That evening, the press conference was broadcast across the country.

Caleb stood behind the podium at the central hall, holding five-year-old Sadie in his arms. He didn't speak of corporate stocks or market valuations. He spoke about Mara. He read her final letter aloud to the world, restoring her honor and ensuring that her legacy as an artist and a devoted mother would never be erased.
"My daughter spent two years believing she was forgotten," Caleb said to the flashing cameras, his voice firm and filled with pride. "She was wrong. Her mother loved her with every beat of her heart, and I will spend the rest of my life making sure she knows she belongs here."
