Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Execution

On Friday morning, the top floor of the Vance Group skyscraper was buzzing with tension.
The conference room was filled with executive board members, high-profile investors, and legal representatives. Evelyn Vance sat at the head of the glass table, dressed in a sharp black suit, flanked by Richard Sterling and his daughter, Victoria.
Victoria looked smug, wearing a diamond brooch that belonged to the Sterling estate, fully expecting to watch Caleb stripped of his power so her family could assume total control of the company.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Evelyn announced, standing up with majestic grace. "We are here today to vote on the motion of removing Caleb Vance as Chief Executive Officer due to recent personal instability that threatens the financial integrity of this firm."
Before the board secretary could call for the vote, the heavy mahogany doors of the boardroom swung wide open.
Caleb walked in. He was wearing a tailored charcoal suit, his posture locked, his expression radiating authority. Beside him walked Marcus, carrying a thick binder of legal documents, and behind them walked Arthur Lin, holding Sadie’s small hand.
The room went dead silent.
"Caleb!" Evelyn snapped, standing up. "This is an executive board meeting! You cannot bring outsiders into this room!"
"I am the majority shareholder of the Vance Group, Mother," Caleb said, his voice ringing through the high-ceilinged room like a thunderbolt. "And these are not outsiders. This is Arthur Lin, the rightful owner of the green-energy patents this company has used to generate seventy percent of its revenue for the past five years."
Richard Sterling’s face drained of color. "This is absurd! Those patents were purchased legally from an offshore holding firm!"
Marcus stepped forward, plugging a flash drive into the boardroom presentation system. Instantly, the massive wall monitors displayed a series of bank transfers, shell company registrations, and signed email correspondences between Evelyn Vance and Richard Sterling from six years ago.
"The holding firm was an illegal front," Marcus announced to the stunned board members. "Operated jointly by Evelyn Vance and Richard Sterling to defraud Mr. Lin, while using extortion to drive his daughter, Mara Lin, into hiding while she was pregnant with Caleb’s heir."
Gasps erupted around the table. Board members leaned forward, examining the undeniable digital paper trail.

Evelyn slammed her hands onto the table, her voice screeching in desperation. "This is a lie! A fabricated ambush!"
"It’s over, Mother," Caleb said, stepping to the head of the table. "I have already filed a formal complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The grand jury subpoenas were served ten minutes ago."
