Chapter 10 - A New Horizon

The sun rose over the city skyline, casting a warm, golden glow across the expansive harbor.

Inside the private office of Sofia’s newly expanded architecture firm—funded independently and protected by watertight ironclad trusts—blueprints and architectural models were spread neatly across a large drafting table.

Sofia stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, sipping a cup of coffee, watching the ferries glide across the blue water.

The door opened softly, and Alexander stepped inside, carrying a small leather-bound portfolio.

"Morning, kiddo," he said, walking over and placing the portfolio on the desk.

Sofia turned around, smiling brightly. "Morning, Dad. What's this?"

"Just a little housekeeping," Alexander said casually. "The municipal redevelopment board approved your firm's proposal for the new public library downtown. It's officially yours."

Sofia’s eyes widened in delight. "Dad! Are you serious? That's a fifty-million-dollar public commission!"

"You earned it," Alexander replied, his chest swelling with quiet, unmistakable paternal pride. "You built this firm from the ground up, with your own talent, your own mind, and your own strength. No man, no family, and no amount of intimidation will ever take that away from you."

I walked into the office just then, carrying a bouquet of fresh white roses, placing them in a crystal vase on her desk.

"And don't forget," I added, wrapping my arms around Sofia's shoulders, "you have a family that loves you unconditionally—always have, always will."

Sofia leaned against us both, feeling the solid, unbreakable foundation of a restored family. The scars from that terrifying wedding night would always be a part of her history, but they no longer defined her. They were simply the armor she wore into a future that belonged entirely to her.

Outside, the city hummed with life, endless and full of promise. And as long as her father stood watch, no shadow would ever touch her door again.
