Chapter 7 - The Trial of Blood and Iron

Two weeks later.

The storm that had battered Boston had finally cleared, leaving behind a crisp, sunny December afternoon.

The Falcone mansion, fully repaired and cleansed of Victor’s corrupt guards, stood grand and quiet against the blue sky. But today, the grand dining room was not empty.

Seated around the massive mahogany table were the elders of the Boston underworld—the old men who held the true power behind the city’s legitimate and illegitimate businesses.

Damian sat at the head of the table, dressed in a sharp gray charcoal suit. Beside him, sitting in a velvet armchair as an absolute equal, was Martha.

On the table between them lay a thick stack of legal documents and bank transfers.

“Victor Renzi was arrested three days ago at the Canadian border,” Damian announced to the quiet room, his voice steady and authoritative. “Lorenzo Moretti has fled to Italy after his own family stripped him of his title. The war you all feared... is over.”

An elderly syndicate boss named Carmine looked at Martha, his bushy eyebrows raised in curiosity. “And who is the young lady, Damian? We heard rumors that a housemaid was the one who brought down Renzi’s operation.”

Damian turned his head and looked at Martha. The warmth in his eyes was unmistakable—a stark contrast to the cold steel he showed to the rest of the world.

“This is Martha Bellini,” Damian said proudly. “Sister of Andrew Bellini. And as of today, she is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bellini Logistics Foundation—a newly established firm that will oversee all legitimate shipping operations through the Boston harbor.”

The room murmured in surprise.

Martha leaned forward, placing her hands on the table. “Under my management, twenty percent of all harbor revenues will be directed into legitimate community funds, veteran programs, and youth centers across South Boston. The days of human trafficking and illegal narcotics moving through our ports are finished. If anyone has an objection... you can take it up with Mr. Falcone.”

Carmine looked between Damian and Martha, seeing the absolute, ironclad unity between them. He let out a loud, appreciative laugh and raised his glass.

“To clean business,” Carmine declared. “And to the new Queen of Boston.”

The other men around the table slowly raised their glasses in agreement.

The meeting concluded smoothly. One by one, the powerful men shook Damian’s hand and bowed respectfully to Martha before exiting the estate.

When the heavy oak doors finally closed, leaving the room silent, Martha let out a long, shuddering breath and slumped back into her chair.

“You did incredible,” Damian said, stepping up behind her chair and resting his large hands gently on her shoulders.

“I was terrified,” she admitted, looking up at him with a small smile.

“You didn't show it for a single second,” Damian murmured. He leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to the top of her head. “Andrew would be so proud of you, Martha. You took his legacy and turned it into something that will save thousands of lives.”

Martha reached up, placing her hand over his. “We did it together, Damian.”
