Chapter 5 - The Trap at the Docks

Martha didn't hesitate.

She deliberately stumbled near a tray of champagne glasses being carried by a passing waiter. The loud crash of shattering glass and spilling liquid immediately drew the attention of half the room—including two of Moretti’s armed guards stationed near the grand staircase.

“Oh, I am so sorry!” Martha exclaimed in a dramatic, flustered tone, drawing everyone's eyes to her stunning dress and sparkling jewels.

While the guards rushed over to assist the gorgeous woman in emerald, Damian melted into the shadows of the hallway like a ghost.

Martha kept the guards occupied for three crucial minutes, using every ounce of charm she possessed. Her heart hammered against her ribs, but she played the role of a wealthy, airheaded guest flawlessly.

Upstairs, Damian moved silently down the carpeted corridor. He reached Moretti’s office door, picked the electronic lock in eight seconds, and stepped inside.

The room was quiet, lined with leather-bound books and heavy mahogany furniture. On the desk sat a high-end terminal connected directly to Moretti’s private cloud server.

Damian inserted Andrew’s memory card.

The green lines of code flashed again.

Decryption Key Found. Downloading File: PROJECT_BLACKLUNG.PDF

Damian’s eyes scanned the document as the download completed. The file contained complete financial records, recorded phone calls, and video footage proving that Victor and Moretti hadn't just murdered Andrew—they had been systematically poisoning the Falcone supply lines with illegal drugs, framing Damian to incite a war between the Boston and New York families.

“Fascinating reading, isn’t it?” a cold voice spoke from the doorway.

Damian didn't flinch. He slowly removed the flash drive from the computer and turned around.

Victor Renzi stood in the doorway, holding a silenced pistol aimed directly at Damian’s chest. Behind him stood four heavily armed Moretti enforcers.

“I knew the tear gas wouldn't hold you,” Victor sneered, stepping into the room. “You always were too stubborn to die, Damian.”

“You sold out your own family, Victor,” Damian said calmly, keeping his hands visible. “My father raised you.”

“Your father kept me in the shadows while he groomed you to take his throne!” Victor spat, his face twisting with long-harbored envy. “I built the Falcone empire’s defense! I bled for this family! And you gave your trust to an outsider like Andrew Bellini!”

“Andrew was loyal. You were a leech.”

Victor chuckled darkly. “It doesn't matter now. Moretti owns Boston as of midnight. And as for Andrew’s little sister... she’s downstairs right now, looking lovely in green. My men are securing her as we speak.”

A surge of lethal rage flared in Damian’s eyes.

Before Victor could pull the trigger, the lights in the entire mansion suddenly went dead black.
