Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

One year later.
The morning sun broke over the magnificent gardens of the Sterling estate, casting a golden light across the manicured lawns and vibrant rose bushes.
Today, there were no police sirens, no secret wiretaps, and no dark shadows lingering in the corners.
The Vance family had been sentenced three months ago. Senator Richard Vance and Julian Vance received thirty-year sentences in federal penitentiary for corporate espionage and conspiracy to commit murder. Vanessa Vance was serving twelve years for child abuse, and Eleanor Vance was serving a life sentence for attempted murder.
The storm was completely over.
In the center of the garden stood a beautiful stone gazebo decorated with hundreds of white lilies and fresh summer roses.
I stood in front of a full-length mirror inside the garden pavilion, wearing an exquisite, simple white silk bridal gown that draped elegantly to the floor. My dark red hair was styled in soft waves, secured with a delicate pearl comb that had belonged to my mother.
Beside me stood my mother. She looked healthy, vibrant, her cheeks full of color following her successful kidney transplant eight months ago—fully funded and arranged by Arthur’s top medical team.
“You look like a dream, Sarah,” my mother whispered, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes as she adjusted my veil.
A soft knock sounded at the door.
Seven-year-old Bella stepped inside. She wore a matching white flower-girl dress, carrying a basket of white rose petals. Her hair was long, beautiful, and completely healed, shining brightly in the sun.
“It’s time, Sarah!” Bella giggled, grabbing my hand. “Daddy is waiting!”
I took a deep breath, my heart fluttering with pure, unadulterated happiness.
I stepped out of the pavilion, taking my mother’s arm on one side and holding Bella’s hand on the other.
As the string quartet began to play a soft, romantic melody, I walked down the stone path toward the gazebo.
Standing at the end of the aisle was Arthur.
He looked impossibly handsome in his tailored black tuxedo, his tall frame radiating power, love, and a profound, peaceful grace.
As I reached the altar, Arthur stepped down to meet me. He took my hand in his—large, warm, and strong—and looked down into my eyes with an intensity that made the rest of the world vanish.
“You took a broken house, Sarah,” Arthur whispered, his baritone voice thick with emotion as he slipped a flawless diamond ring onto my finger. “And you turned it back into a home. You saved my daughter, you saved me, and you gave us a future.”
I looked into his dark eyes, tears of joy spilling over my lashes.
“You gave me a reason to fight, Arthur,” I replied softly, sliding his wedding band onto his finger. “I love you.”
“I love you, Sarah,” Arthur whispered. “With all my heart.”
The minister smiled warmly. “By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
Arthur reached out, wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me close against his chest, and leaned down to kiss me—a deep, passionate, promises-kept kiss that sealed our lives together forever.

The guests broke into joyous applause. Bella squealed, tossing white rose petals into the air around us.
Arthur pulled back slightly, looking down at me and Bella with a radiant, magnificent smile—the smile of a chairman who had reclaimed his life, and a man who had finally found his home.
