Chapter 7 - The Unspoken Spark

By December, snow had covered the Westchester grounds in a thick, silent blanket of white.

The estate had changed entirely. The quiet, sterile atmosphere that once defined the Cole mansion was replaced by the sound of holiday music, the smell of fresh pine, and the continuous laughter of a three-year-old child exploring a giant house.

Damian had restructured his entire corporate schedule. He no longer spent fourteen hours a day at the Manhattan headquarters. He took meetings from his home study, insisted on having breakfast with Rosa and Mia every morning, and personally taught Mia how to build a snowman in the rear courtyard.

One evening, after Mia had fallen fast asleep in her plush bedroom upstairs, Damian found Rosa standing on the rear veranda, wrapped in a thick wool coat, holding a mug of steaming tea.

The snow fell softly through the dark air, illuminated by the warm amber garden lights.

Damian stepped out beside her, draping a warm cashmere scarf over her shoulders. “You’ll catch cold out here.”

Rosa smiled, leaning slightly into his shoulder. “It’s beautiful. I’ve lived in New York my whole life, but I’ve never seen snow look so quiet.”

Damian looked down at her. Her cheeks were flushed pink from the cold, her dark hair catching tiny snowflakes that sparkled under the light.

For weeks, they had lived in a quiet, sweet harmony—sharing meals, raising Mia together, building a foundation of deep trust. But the unspoken attraction between them had grown into a magnetic pull that neither could deny.

“Rosa,” Damian murmured softly.

She turned to look at him, her lips slightly parted in the cold night air.

Damian reached up, his warm fingers gently tracing her jawline, brushing away a stray snowflake from her cheek. His dark eyes were filled with an intense, fierce devotion.

“I didn't just ask you to stay for Mia’s sake,” Damian whispered, his voice deep and gravelly.

Rosa’s heart hammered against her ribs. “Damian...”

“I love you, Rosa,” Damian said, his voice trembling slightly with raw emotion. “I loved you when you stood in the rain to protect me. I loved you when you stayed by my side through the storm. I love every moment I spend watching you bring life back into my heart.”

Tears of joy filled Rosa’s eyes, sparkling like diamonds in the snowy light. She reached up, placing her soft hands on either side of his sculpted jaw.

“I loved you long before I had the courage to say it, Damian,” she whispered back.

Damian bent his head, bringing his lips down to hers.

The kiss was slow, warm, and deeply passionate—a promise of safety, truth, and an everlasting future forged in the middle of a quiet winter night.
