Chapter 3 - The Falling Sky

The hospital alarm system didn't even have time to sound.

Four men in unmarked gray tactical suits stormed down the hallway. They moved with absolute, terrifying precision. Before Silas’s two security guards could even reach for their holsters, they were slammed face-first into the linoleum floor, their weapons stripped and disarmed in less than two seconds.

Odalys shrieked, backing into the corner of the room, while Silas jumped back, his polished composure instantly cracking.

“What is the meaning of this?!” Silas yelled, stepping behind his attorney, who had just rushed into the room. “I am Silas Vance! I own this wing! Security! Call the police!”

The lead tactical operative ignored Silas completely. He stepped up to my bed, holstered his weapon, and immediately knelt beside me, pulling out a specialized medical scanner.

“Ms. Vance,” the operative said calmly. “I am Commander Vance—no relation. Your father sent us. We are taking you now.”

Nurse Priya stepped forward quickly. “Her vitals are dropping! She needs an emergency C-section immediately! The placenta is tearing!”

“Our surgical transport unit is waiting on the helipad,” Commander Vance replied. He turned to his men. “Prep her for immediate lift.”

Silas snapped. He rushed forward, grabbing the operative’s tactical vest. “You can’t take her! She’s my wife! This is illegal! I will have you all thrown in federal prison!”

Commander Vance didn't even look angry. He simply grabbed Silas’s wrist, applied a swift, expert leverage pressure, and twisted it downward.

Silas dropped to his knees with a high-pitched scream of agony, his face contorting as his wrist clicked out of its joint.

“Touch me again, Mr. Vance,” the commander said softly, “and I won't just break your wrist. I will remove your arm.”

“Silas!” Odalys screamed, trying to help him up.

At that exact moment, Silas’s phone began to ring frantically in his jacket pocket. Then Odalys’s phone rang. Then the attorney’s tablet began buzzing with dozens of high-priority alerts.

Silas, clutching his swollen wrist, pulled his phone out with his good hand. The screen was flashing bright red with warning banners from every financial app, banking portal, and corporate server tied to his name.

ALERT: Vance Dynamics trading halted by SEC. ALERT: Kade Capital offshore accounts liquidated. ALERT: Personal assets frozen by Federal Court Order #882. ALERT: Private jet registration revoked by FAA.

Silas’s eyes went wide as saucers. “What... what is this? This is a glitch! Someone hacked the banks!”

His attorney looked at his tablet, his face draining of all color. “Silas... it’s not a hack. It’s an executive seizure order signed by federal judges across three jurisdictions. Every single asset tied to Vance Dynamics has been locked. The board of directors just held an emergency vote over Zoom... you’ve been stripped of your CEO title.”

“What?!” Silas shrieked, scrambling to his feet. “They can’t do that! I own thirty-five percent of the voting shares!”

“Not anymore,” the attorney whispered, his hands trembling as he read the screen. “A shadow holding company called Osei Global Logistics just executed a foreclosure clause on your business loans. They owned your debt, Silas. They’ve owned it for five years. They just bought your entire company for a single dollar.”

Odalys stared at her phone, watching as her offshore account in the Cayman Islands—the one containing the twelve million dollars she had stolen from me—dropped to a balance of $0.00 in real-time.

“My money...” Odalys whimpered, dropping her phone onto the floor, where the screen shattered. “My money is gone!”

I lay on the stretcher as the tactical team lifted me carefully, moving me toward the door. As they wheeled me past Silas, I looked down at him. He was kneeling on the floor, surrounded by his useless legal papers, his wrist broken, his empire crumbling into dust in less than five minutes.

“I told you, Silas,” I whispered through the oxygen mask covering my mouth. “My father knows enough to frighten you.”

May you like

Silas looked up at me, his eyes filled with a terrifying, sudden realization. “Your... your father did this?”

“No,” Commander Vance interjected coldly as he pushed my stretcher out into the hallway. “Her father hasn't even arrived yet. This was just his automated secretary.”
